Open Question: Will long heating of vegetable broth destroy the nutrition?
I see this in the instruction for preparing vegetable broth - "Heat to boiling, then lower the heat and simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally".
I am afraid the tender vegetables will loose their nutrition. Please let me know at what temperature and after how long the vitamins and other nutrition decompose. Thanks in advance.

Open Question: Any good Endocrinology books you can recommend?
I am doing my Ph.D. in clinical nutrition and have a background in biochemistry. I have developed a great interest in endocrinology recently (Sp. Diabetes) and was hoping to purchase a book to assist me with this interest. Do you have any books to recommend? Top 3 books perhaps?
Perhaps endocrinolgy for dummies or the like?

Open Question: Can a 11 year old child in Michigan choose to not live with her mom because of inadequate care?
When I met my husband of 5 years in 2006, he explained to me that he had two daughters 7 and 2 years old with his ex-girlfriend and they agreed to share parenting time half and half. The 7 year old child was not his child biologically because when he met his ex-girlfriend she had a 2 year old little girl( the 11 year old in question) from an unknown man and my husband at that time(before he met me of course) cared for her as if she were his own and they later the had a child together (the 2 year old in the first sentence). i hope I didn't lose you? Well if we could fast forward to 2010 and the girls are 11 and 6 years od now, our blended family has been through a lot! The 11 year old in question does not want to stay with her mom any more because of attention, education, safety, abuse, instability, family history, neglect, and nutrition reasons. We have NO custody rights over the 11 year old but we have full custody of the 6 year old child. What can we do? What are her options in Michigan?

I take pink magic and prime both by USP labs and I'm pretty familiar with all of the nutrition involved I'm just not 100% sure if they are classified as "pro-horomones" or if that is referencing something else. Thanks.

Open Question: Is this safe, considering the recent egg recall...?
I usually, about two or three times a week, scramble an egg or two for my dogs and bird. They love it, gives them good nutrition, no worries.
But is there any danger with the recent egg recall? I live very close to the farms that have caused the recall (in Iowa), so the odds are very high that that is where the eggs are coming from.
I know the dogs will probably do fine, as salmonella isn't too common with them, but I'm worried about the bird. I know it's important to cook the eggs all the way as diseases could be passed easily through the eggs, but should I stop feeding them until everything is back to normal?
I posted this in both the bird and dog section, as I will probably get very different results throughout.
kid, I could go into how and why it is completely normal for birds to eat eggs, and how it is in no way cannibalism, but that would take far too long. If you would actually care to know, email me, and I will send you the reasons back.
